Grape Smasher Project
The Grape Smasher was a project we did on November 10, 2010. It was a fun experiment for students done by students in Mrs. Samson's Science 9 classes throughout the day. There were alot of different inventions to protect their grape that groups of two(table partners) used. There only supplies they could use were a half piece of paper and a toothpick. Most students made simple things in the 2 minutes everyone was given to build there thing to protect the grape from getting smashed. Some groups for this project folded their paper repeatedly to make it hard at the top and sides to prevent the grape which was under the paper from getting smashed. Looking at the Grape Smasher it was a simple machine that the top just flew down on the paper. Groups per class depended on how many people were present and how many students were in the class. Mrs. Samson the Science 9 teacher was the person behind all of the project. The project was mostly for fun and an experience for students. A lot of students wanted to do it again.
In 2011, this project was done again. Only a few groups succeeded in protecting their grape.
